Instinct is partnered with Asteris to order and view imaging and reports directly from Instinct.
👓 Asteris Integration at a Glance
- Complete an Asteris integrated Treatment for a patient.
- Patient information is sent to the Asteris Keystone schedule viewer for patient imaging to occur.
- Query the Asteris schedule to pull the patient information into the modality chosen (MRI, DX, CT, US).
- A new Asteris Chart document is created in Instinct automatically with a status of “Requested”.
- Once images and reports are available, the status of the Chart document is updated to “Images/Reports Received” and results can be viewed by clicking the orange “View Images/Reports” icon.

🏥 Scheduling and Completing Asteris Imaging
You can schedule and complete imaging treatments like any other treatment in Instinct. Asteris specific treatments display a diagnostics icon on both the Treatment Order form and on the Treatment Sheet as shown below. While the diagnostics icon will not display if ordered as a One-Off, you can still complete One-Offs for Asteris treatments.
🚨 Imaging Icon not displaying when ordering in the Treatment Order form? If the Imaging Icon is not appearing next to the product name in the Treatment Order form, the product has not been mapped to the Asteris Integration. Please reach out to email@example.com to have the product mapped! Don’t forget to include the product PIMS ID, Product Label, and the Modality the product should be linked to.
Once the treatment is completed, the Order History screen will display a View Results button. Selecting this button opens the order form within the chart document panel to the right.
Or, you can navigate to the order form from the Chart screen.
Once an imaging study has been Requested, this will trigger the scheduling of the service in Asteris’ Keystone Omni portal.
You will then query the Asteris schedule to pull the patient information into the modality chosen.
Instinct’s Chart Document Status will display either Requested, Images Received, or Report Received.
📓 Please Note: Once an Asteris treatment has been marked ‘Completed’, any changes or updates made in Instinct will not be reflected in Asteris. You will have to go into the Asteris portal to cancel any studies or reports.
🧪 Viewing Imaging Results
To view imaging results in the Order History, click the View Results button. To view results when the status of the Chart document displays Received, simply click on the Chart document.
Images and Reports are accessed by clicking the corresponding button under Results on the right side of the screen.
💡 ProTip: If the ‘Remember Me’ button on the Asteris pop-up is not saving (causing you to login each time you try to view results), you can login to Asteris as shown below and minimize this window which will keep you logged in. The next time you try to view images you should already be logged in, bypassing the login credentials screen. 👍
At the bottom of the screen, Results Updated will reflect the time the results were most recently updated.
Void/undo void is allowed within Instinct using the 3-dot menu next to the report, but this only voids the attachment within Instinct and not the report. If a report needs to be cancelled, you will still need to log into your Asteris Keystone interface and cancel them.
📓 Please Note: A future version of this Asteris integration will further integrate with rVet Sharing (Shareville), Comm Log Attachments, and printing patient records. In the meantime, we recommend that you Download Results as a PDF to share with rVets and owners when needed.
