Easily document how a patient was referred to your hospital, including the practice name and veterinarian.
➕ Adding a Referrer
When adding or checking in a new patient, you will have an option to include the referring veterinarian or hospital.
Click “New rVet” to add a new referring veterinarian or click “Existing rVet” to select an existing rVet. Before adding a new rVet, please check and see if they already exist to avoid duplicate entries.
📓 Please Note: We recommend creating each hospital only once as this is currently a one-hospital + one rVet system (additional rVet entries will be available in a future update). Entries can include a primary veterinarian or a generic contact, such as “Attending Veterinarian” as the first and last name.
Adding a referrer during this step is not required and you’ll still be able to add or modify this information after check-in with the following steps:
- Navigate to the Business Office
- Patient Registration
- Search for the pet’s name and click to edit the patient information
- Click the X to clear the rVet and add a new one
You can also quickly add or edit the Referring Veterinarian by clicking directly on the Referred By header in the Patient Info Bar within the Patient Visit screen.
🔨 Maintaining a Referrer
In the Business Office you can find the Referrer category where you can search for Referrers and update any information.
20 referrers are displayed at a time and you can click “Show More” at the top of the screen to load 20 additional referrers to the page. You can also search for referrers by using the search box in the upper right-hand corner.
Clicking on the Referrers name allows you to update any information.
To create a new referrer, click the “New Referrer” button towards the top left of the screen. An entry box will open, allowing you to enter new referrer details.

You may enter multiple emails, phone/fax numbers, and addresses by using the + next to each field. Once added, the new referrer will appear at the bottom of the list (you may need to click “Show More” to see the new referrer or use the search box). Referrer information can be changed at any time by clicking on the referrer’s name.
📓 Please Note: Practice Name, and doctor First and Last Name are required while email, phone, fax, and address are optional.
