Username and Passwords

Each Instinct user will be assigned a personalized PIN to log in and record their findings. Learn more about the process and what each screen means below!


🗝 Log In Screen

Depending on the type of practice, you may have a 4 or 6-digit login. Some hospitals may even have a manual username and password entry for extra security. Your PIN can be entered automatically without having to click inside the bubbles, so all you have to do is begin typing once the screen is open. To log out and return to this screen, you can simply hit Control+Spacebar or navigate to the lower left portion of your screen and click EXIT.


🔐 Practice ID and Practice Password

When encountering a screen that is asking for a Practice ID and Practice Password, the practice may have been accidentally logged out of the application from the upper right-hand corner of the screen. If this happens, you will have to re-enter the token file information. If this happens, it may be best to reach out to your Admin or IT team to locate the appropriate file. You may also reach out to support@instinct.vet with any questions!

🔑 Using Your PIN

Once Instinct has been installed on the computers at your practice and is ready for use, each staff member will be given a PIN by your Admin team that will allow you to log in to the application. You will want to think of this PIN as a digital signature, as it is personal to you, so you do not want to share it with anyone. This PIN tracks who creates an order, leaves a note, or completes a treatment. Instinct is a legal medical record, so using this PIN is equivalent to writing your initials on a paper treatment sheet. 

Password requirements:

  • Depending on the login type, it can be up to 10 characters
  • 1 upper case
  • 1 lower case
  • 1 number 
  • Symbols can be used but do not replace any of these 

When a member of the Admin team is adding a new user, their initials and password can be updated under the Staff section as seen below:

The initials section is where the username is added. This information is what will be recorded and displayed when certain things are recorded, treatments are created or completed, and notes are made.
