Routine Maintenance of Instinct

We know efficiency and accuracy are crucial for our hospitals and thankfully, Instinct is pretty self-sufficient, but we do have a few recommendations to make sure your Instinct app is running as smoothly as possible.

🐶 Long-term Patients

We recommend checking out long-term patients, including any cleaning or reminder checklists created as treatment sheets, every 30 days. Patients checked in for long periods of time (think 30 or more days) have tons of data and every time that treatment sheet is opened all of those treatments have to be loaded.

💡 ProTip: Have your admin team create Product Groups to quickly rebuild long-term patient treatment sheets, including cleaning checklists. You can also sort the patients by check in time to see your longest visits.


🔴 Overdue Treatments

Large numbers of overdue treatments can significantly slow down Instinct’s ability to quickly pull up treatment sheets. Remember, if you see a patient with a red dot this means the patient has an overdue treatment.

💡 ProTip: Use our Bulk Edit feature to quickly move overdue treatments. Remember to apply a filter to quickly see which patients are overdue.


📈 Background Programs

Although rare, sometimes large numbers of open programs can also affect Instinct. Check to make sure there are minimal programs open on your workstation at any given time. You may notice that overall performance of your workstation will improve by cleaning up the background.


🦾 Troubleshooting Tips

If you notice Instinct operating slow, try out these tips:

  • Check your internet speed by going to http://www.fast.com/
    • For small practices, we recommend at least 10 Mbps
    • For larger practices, we recommend at least 30 Mbps
  • If you think you’re having a network issue, connect a laptop to a 4G network (like your smartphone) and see if the performance in Instinct improves. If it does, please contact your IT team as this may be due to an overactive firewall/security setting.
  • Look through each board and see if you have any patients that have been checked in for 30 or more days
  • Are there any patients with overdue treatments?
  • Confirm your workstation does not have multiple other open programs running
